Mount Macedon is a beautiful country town north of Melbourne, well known for its manicured gardens and stunning vistas. It’s also a great location for Wedding photography all year around.
Open fields on the way, and in and around Mount Macedon provide scenic backdrops which look particularly stunning during sunset on days with minimal cloud coverage. These fields provide photographic opportunities ranging from romantic photographs accentuating the couple:
to photographs that encapsulate the expansive landscapes and contextualise the environment:
Mount Macedon’s well known Avenue of Honour provides a stunningly beautiful backdrop for unique looking Wedding Photos which are difficult to replicate in Melbourne:
We loved the country feel of the town, and had a great time exploring it and finding all the nooks and crannies for our couples benefit:
We particularly loved the golden light that drenched the area during sunset which gives photographs an amazingly romantic and clean look:
What amazed us on our first time visiting Mount Macedon was that everyone’s front gate could be used as a picturesque and unique photography backdrop! A literal candy shop for Photographers!
Mount Macedon is a medium-long distance drive of approximately 1.5 hours away from Melbourne CBD. It has poor mobile telephone reception for most carriers (Telstra performs best based on experience) – expect to not be able to use your mobile phone to make phone calls both on the way, and within large areas of Mount Macedon. This will mean making sure that meetings and rendezvous points need to be clearly identified prior to the day to avoid issues on the day for yourself and your vendors! Due to the distance away from Melbourne, we do not recommend Mount Macedon as a photoshoot location on the Wedding day itself (for Melbourne based Weddings), but it suits perfectly for country weddings in the area, and for engagement portrait sessions.
Clarte Photography is available to photograph both Weddings and Engagement photographs at Mount Macedon – contact us to book in a photography session!
